This is the privacy and data protection policy and notice (“Privacy Policy”) of Nick Academy, which is owned, controlled and operated by K.F.F.E Kids Fun Exploration Experience Ltd.
Nick Academy, a mobile application (App) is for children ages 6-12 aiming to playfully teach them a wide variety of curricula through combination of games and pedagogical content. Parent consent is required to allow children to use the App. We take your trust and privacy very seriously and therefore aim to process as little personal data as necessary from our users. “Personal Data” which may be gathered consists of any details which relate to an identified or identifiable natural person (including users or clients) (the “Data Subject(s)”) and which are provided consciously and voluntarily by you through your use of our Website, including the Parental Dashboard, through your registration on our App, by email, or other ways in which you communicate and interact with us, all, as further described and defined in this Privacy Policy.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you (where appropriate) and seek to obtain your prior parental consent, if required.
Alongside the App, Nick Academy also includes a web-based parental dashboard, which enables you to monitor your child’s progress on the App and access other educational parental content (the “Website”/ “Parental Dashboard”) (collectively with the App, the “Services”/ “Nick Academy Platform”).
For the purposes of EU General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”) and other applicable privacy laws, KFFE is a data controller (“Controller”).
PURPOSE
The App processes data for the purposes of:
- Operating and monitoring the Service;
- Meet our legal obligations;
- Notifying you about changes to our Services and/or fee structure;
- Sending parents e-mail(s) with information about your game progresses and activity;
- sending parents with prior consent, e-mail newsletters for marketing promotions performed by KFFE and our affiliates, or additional Services offered by KFFE which may be of interest to you, including in other locations;
- soliciting parent feedback in connection with the Services;
- improving the contents of the App (through data analytics and results of research activities), track and optimize the use of the Services; and
- to follow up on children safety alerts and cooperate with the parent/legal guardian and/or law enforcement;
- security purposes.
We strive to ensure that all data that we process remains accurate, complete and relevant for the stated purposes for which it was processed. We do not sell or otherwise distribute your Personal data to third parties for commercial purposes and will not send you any commercial proposals unless expressly authorized to do so.
Data pertaining to your child/ren will be collected only where parental/guardian consent was provided. Even when you authorize us to perform certain actions that require consent, or to send you our proposals, you are free to opt-out at any time. To evaluate the use of our Service as well as for statistical purposes, only anonymized data shall be used.
WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE APP OBTAIN AND HOW IS IT USED?
- USER PROVIDED INFORMATION
The App obtains the information parents provide when they download and register. We collect the following personal information from parents at registration:
- Email Address;
- Username and Password.
In addition to the personal information above, during your use of the Services through a Nick Academy Account, or if you contact us for help or for the receipt of information, we may collect other Personal Data which a parent provides. We use this information to offer KFFE’s Services and support to you and your child/ren. We may also use a parent’s contact information to send notice to the parent to protect the safety of a child: We work with service providers that provide moderation of user-generated content. If these providers flag any concerning content entered by your child, they will notify Nick Academy and we will use your contact information to send you notice of this language, or cooperate with law enforcement, as applicable.
Note that when you make in-app purchases or purchase subscriptions, this is handled by the relevant app store that acts as an independent controller. We do not share Personal Data with the app stores. The relevant app store (e.g. Google or Apple) is a separate and independent data controller.
You do not have any legal obligation to provide any information to KFFE, however, we require certain information in order to perform contracts, or to provide any Services to you. If you choose not to provide us with certain information, then we may not be able to provide you with some or all of the Services.
- INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM CHILDREN
A parent email is obtained to seek consent for a child to access Nick Academy. The parent provides the following for the child:
- Nickname;
- Year of Birth;
- Avatar.
- A child’s performance, achievements and usage analytics, such as your child’s progress in each core subject, course and game completion status, awards, daily time usage, total time spent on the App, level and number of courses and activities completed (“Usage Data”). The Usage Data will appear on the Parental Dashboard to help you to track your child’s performance and may also serve KFFE with the purpose of enabling us to customize, adapt, and personalize the App to your child’s learning needs and preferences.
- We also collect messages you send to your child through the Parental Dashboard. Such messages will be based on fixed templates and can be located and managed in your Parental Dashboard Inbox.
- In-app feedback – you and your child are invited to share feedback on the app which we use to help provide you with the best experience. We ask that users not submit personal information through this feature. Feedback is not tied to your account or account details and feedback is not disclosed publicly.

Other data we collect in the App
We also collect Personal Data through your use of our App, to operate and maintain our Services, understand how users interact with our App, and improve the user experience. We collect and record the information relating to you and your child’s use of the App, either independently or through the help of third-party services as detailed below. Service Providers
We use the following service providers in relation to children in our Services. These service providers have been implemented with settings to prevent the disclosure of the child’s personal information.
- We use Mixpanel to collect analytics data about the child’s use of the service to help us improve our services and provide the best experience. Mixpanel collects and immediately deletes an IP address to determine an approximate location.
- AppsFlyer is used to help us better understand our ad campaigns and measure app installs and events. Settings are in place to prevent the collection of personal information and ensure that it is not disclosed to any third parties.
- We use Firebase Analytics to provide statistical information about our users. Firebase does not collect any personal information.
If you are a parent and have any questions about our use of service providers in relation to children, please contact us at [email protected].
We partner with different companies to power some of the activities in the App:
The Nick Academy App integrates an AI-based engine developed and operated by Universal Grammar Ltd. (“UG”) as part of its conversational AI experiences. Voice recordings will be transcribed into a text file before being promptly deleted. These transcripts will be filtered and any personal information that may have been disclosed in the audio file will be deleted.
Parents also have the option to allow UG to store and use the raw audio files to improve and enhance UG’s natural language understanding models as described in UG’s privacy policy, subject to your consent. These audio files will not be disclosed to any other third parties or used for any other purpose.
For more information on UG’s privacy practices, please refer to UG’s privacy policy or contact UG directly via [email protected] .
Storywizard Ltd. (“Storywizard”) developed an AI tool that creates personalized educational experiences. Children can create and save their own stories, write and modify text and record audio for reading assessments. All stories are moderated for personal information and appropriate content prior to being generated into a downloadable PDF file.
For more information on Storywizard’s privacy practices, please visit their privacy policy or contact Storywizard directly at [email protected] .Parents Rights
Parents may review and update their child’s information at any time or revoke consent by contacting us here: [email protected].
